We are proud to share our recent work, “Stimulated Brillouin scattering in a non-suspended ultra-low-loss thick SOI platform,” has been published as a Featured Article in APL Photonics!
For years, Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in silicon photonics has been primarily explored in suspended SOI platforms, due to acoustic leakage in standard silicon nanowire structures. In this work, we overcome this long-standing challenge by demonstrating that increasing the waveguide dimension can effectively confine optically generated sound waves without suspension.
Congrats, Steven!
