Nonlinear photonics

We explore various on-chip platforms for efficient generation of nonlinear optical processes including four wave mixing (FWM), cross phase modulation (XPM), and Brillouin scattering (SBS). Thes material platforms include thick (3-4 microns) silicon, chalcogenide glass, and silicon -on-insulator.  We exploit these processes for advanced RF and optical signal processing including ultra-wideband signal generation, high precision instantaneous frequency measurement, and  tunable RF photonic notch filters.
